Privacy notice
Plain words about your data on imgy.
Who we are
imgy hosts client photo galleries for photographers. Questions about your data: the address on our website.
Studios
For a studio account we keep the name and email of each member, the studio’s details and settings, and what the studio uploads. Passwords are stored only as salted hashes.
Clients of studios
When you open a gallery, a cookie remembers your browser for that gallery. If the studio asks for your email, it is kept with your favourites and downloads so the studio knows who chose what. The studio is responsible for how it uses that; ask it if you want your details removed (each gallery also has a “forget me” option).
Emails from studios
A studio can email you its gallery through us, and we email you a reminder a week before a gallery you registered in closes, and a receipt when you send the studio a selection. Each email names the studio and has a link that stops its emails to you.
Find my photos
A studio can let the guests of a gallery find the photos they’re in from a selfie. Then the faces in that gallery’s photos are turned into numbers on our servers (no picture of a face and no name is kept) so a guest’s selfie can be compared with them. The selfie is used once, for that search, and isn’t stored. Turning the feature off, deleting the photo or the gallery, or a plan without the feature deletes those numbers. Nothing is sent to any other company. The studio decides whether a gallery uses it; ask the studio if you’d rather your face weren’t searchable in its gallery.
Faces in crops
Where a photo is shown cropped (a gallery’s cover, its link previews, square thumbnails), our servers find where the faces are in it so the crop keeps them whole and in view. What is kept is where each face is in the photo (a box) and one point per photo: no picture of a face, nothing about who anyone is, nothing that could be compared. Nothing is sent to any other company.
Reels
A studio can let a gallery’s visitors make a short video of its photos. The video is made on your own phone or computer, from the photos you can see, and isn’t uploaded to us or anyone else. The studio sees that a reel was made and of how many photos, and who made it if you gave the gallery your email.
Photos from guests
A studio can let the guests of a gallery add the photos they took. A guest gives their name and email, and the studio sees who added each photo. Before anyone can download one, where it was taken and the details of the phone it came from are removed from it. A guest can remove the photos they added at any time, in the gallery. If the studio asks the couple to approve them, the couple sees them too, with the name each guest gave, before anyone else.
What we never do
We don’t sell data, show ads, or use your photographs for anything but showing them to the people they’re shared with.
Where it’s kept
Photos and data are stored with our hosting providers, encrypted in transit. Backups are kept for a limited time.
Cookies
Only the ones the service needs: to keep you signed in, to remember a gallery you opened, and to protect sign-in from guessing.
Your rights
You can ask for a copy of your data, for corrections, or for deletion at the address on our website.
